My Personal DNA

Thank you to BPD in OKC for this!

I am Advocating
Being social, empathic, and understanding makes you ADVOCATING.

Some people find being around others exhausting—but not you! You are energized by spending time with friends, and you are good at meeting new people.

One of the reasons you enjoy conversation as much as you do is that you often learn about yourself while talking things out with a friend; you realize things about your own beliefs while discussing them with others.

You have insight into what others are thinking and feeling. This ability allows you to be happy for others, and to commiserate when something has gone wrong for them.

You are highly compassionate, and being conscious of how things affect those close to you leaves you cautious about trusting others too hastily.

Despite these reservations, you are open-minded when it comes to your worldview; you don't look to impose your ways on others.

Your sensitivity towards others' plights contributes to an understanding—both intellectual and emotional—of many different perspectives.

As someone who understands the complexities of the world around you, you are reluctant to pass judgments.

Me, Elmer & Little Hairs

Ok, so I read somewhere that if you put Elmers glue on your face and let it dry it'll get rid of all the pimple and blackheads and stuff.

So guess what I did?

I slathered Elmers glue ALL OVER MY FACE!

It felt good yet smelled like crap, but was weirdly fun.

I left it on, and um ... let's just say that taking it off was a B*TCH!

I so did not read the part about avoiding the eyebrows. It hurt like hell to take off! I had to wet my face to try to unglue the glue!

Then I discovered that I guess I have baby hair on my face, like peach fuzz, OMG, I'M A BEAR! OUCH!

Um, how about you don't put glue on your face. Just take my word for it.

That's my OCD in overdrive. I use a gazillion face products.

Gratitude Moment: Thankful that I got the glue out of my hairline.

Monday Laugh

Toward the end of Sunday service, the Minister asked, "How many of you have forgiven your enemies?"

80% held up their hands.

The Minister then repeated his question.

All responded this time, except one small elderly lady.

"Mrs. Neely?, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?"

"I don't have any," she replied, smiling sweetly.

"Mrs. Neely, that is very unusual. How old are you?"

"Ninety-eight," she replied.

"Oh, Mrs. Neely, would you please come down in front & tell us all how a person can live ninety-eight years & not have an enemy in the world?"

The little sweetheart of a lady tottered down the aisle, faced the congregation, and said: "I outlived the bitches."

Tagged!

Dreamwriter tagged me a long time ago, and I sooo didn't get it. I thought it was spam or something weird like when someone hacks into your blog and sends you pornos. LMBO!

Anyway, I started reading other blogs and saw Tori's tag, and it clicked - this is a game! DUH!

I'm still not sure I get it, maybe I'm not trying hard enough. So, I'll begin with:
Six Random Facts About Me:

1. I write backwards and have done so all my life.
2. I am super obsessed with NOT having flat feet.
3. I once took out one of my teeth (ouch).
4. I had Kerry Von Erich's baby ... ok, in a dream.
5. Sometimes I cut ants in half and watch them wiggle.
6. I once killed a lizard with contact solution and Lysol.

Saved By McDonalds - Monday Funny!

I had a 6 hour road trip this weekend. With the exception of the thunderstorms, my trip to the destination was fine.

On the way back, I decided to treat myself with a Dairy Queen Cookies and Cream milk shake.

I was concerned with being tired during the drive, so I followed my Dairy Queen Cookies and Cream milk shake with a Cherry Coke Chaser.

NOTE: I am VERY lactose intolerant.

I wanted it, and I was going to have it. I didn't have my lactaid pills with me, but I could handle it. My thought was I would FORCE my body to like dairy little by little. "I control you, body. Not the other way around!"

Maybe I should have started AT HOME . I swear the dairy and carbonation was the equivalent of a bomb!

1 hour from home, my stomach made a really odd noise.

I got extremely HOT.
Then bitter cold.

And then the sort of fear only present in a child as she enters an alleged haunted house on Halloween night.

SHEER TERROR!

CAN I OUT-DRIVE THIS BM!
Will I need to pull over into a ditch?
God, please help me!

I turned up the gospel music -already playing in the car-, loud enough that the deer could hear. "If my ears hurt I won't think about the terror attack on my loins", I thought.

And then I saw them - the Golden Arches!

"Just a little bit more Butterfly and you'll be ok."

In hindsight, this is funny as heck. In the moment ....well, I rather not relive it :-)

Gratitude Moment: I am so thankful for the 31,000 McDonald's locations.

Me & Kid TV

I found myself watching an entire episode of Hanna Montana today....and enjoying it.

I frequently watch Sponge Bob Square Pants as well.

Ok, I'm 31. What's wrong with this picture?

NOTHING!

Kid TV is the way TV should be - stress and drama free!

On Nickelodeon, there are shiny things, bright colors, smiles, sing song-y moments and happy times.

I've figured out how to fix what ails me - WATCH MORE KID TV!

"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS!"

Gratitude Moment: So thankful that I can embrace moments of joy and seek more of it.

Blue Collar Comedy Fan

This is a picture of Ron White.

I LOVE him! Well, I love his comedy!

Ok, so I have Sirius radio in the car, and when driving I often listen to the comedy stations because laughter is good for the soul.

I often listen to Blue Collar Radio because I find it abso-freaking-lutely hilarious!

I love Larry the Cable Guy and have added Git-r-done to my vocabulary.

Did I mention that I LOVE Ron White?

Im watching his standup on TV right now. Here's a scene for you. Enjoy!

Gratitude Moment: So thankful for comedians that can make me laugh.

Weekend Funny

Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi Grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer.

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand.

He approached her and asked, 'Mrs. Jones, do you know me?'

She responded, 'Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you'll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.'

The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, 'Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?'

Read the rest here.

Gratitude Moment: So thankful for the email forwards that make me laugh.

Pardon Me ...

I've been gathering topics to write about, but I haven't been able to post.

I write them in my heads, but the words don't get to my fingers.

So tonight I will try to catch up. Here we go!

I Wanna Go Home

Home for me is the Caribbean, and right now, I am missing it BADLY!

I'm thinking about going next month, but definitely before July, and this time, I' gonna do all the tourist-y things.

Snorkeling, hikes and nature walks, tours, etc.

I wanna lay on the beach and get a tan, read a book under a coconut tree and enjoy beautiful clear water.

I think being home willbe relaxing for me. How could sunshine-y weather NOT be a good thing?

I heard that there are disposable cameras that will allow you to take pics under water. Maybe I'll get one of those.

I took these pictures with my sprint Treo the last time I was at home.

Whatever Dude!

Hi. Don't have much to say other than, I feel pretty good today.

I got a lot of house cleaning done and had some great chats with hubby.

I guess the picture is a big "WHATEVER DUDE" to anything I don't want to do. It took me a year to get to the point of being so happy with myself. If you don't believe me, read last March's posts.

Funny Pictures

Guess who's getting a whuppin'.

While trying to bag my groceries, this cashier damn near licked her palm to retrive the bag!

"No thank you, really, I'll do it. Attend to the next customer, NASTY!"

Joy Shared...

Joy shared is Joy Doubled. Trouble Shared is Trouble Halved.

Ever heard that saying before?

Makes so much sense.

I've been getting out quite a bit. When my moods are good I ensure that I maximize the day and do as much as I can. However, to compel me to get out, I've joined some Meetup groups. With one group, we've already had a meeting, movie night, and on October 26th, we're having a workshop with a life coach! October 30th, we're having a spa day!

Do I like all of them, can I stand to be around them?

So not the point. The point is that were all together for one purpose: to improve the quality of our lives. If we make friends in the process, its the cherry on top.

I've also started meeting with my women's ministry group again. Awesome! We had Taco Night on Saturday, and the next one I'll host. Of course it will be a tea party - tea, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee and cute cookies.

These groups occur infrequent enough that I don't feel smothered, and they provide me with the connection I need to the community to prevent me from becoming a hermit.

We talk a lot and so my joy is doubled and trouble halved.

Hooray!

Daylight Savings Time

So at 6:30am in NYC today is resembled 4am.

Uh, its October, shouldn't Daylight Savings Time have kicked in by now?

Why am I so pressed?

I want that extra hour of sleep! Duh! Lol!

But really, my SAD is kicking like a - what kicks?- a baby ready to come out!

I fell asleep around 9pm and was up at 11pm; then 1:30ish; and then 5:30am. So that's about 6 hours-ish of sleep. Not bad if done consecutively, but the choppy stuff sucks.

Here's my idea:

VIA EMAIL

Dear Senator Obama:

With an estimated 5 million Americans with bipolar disorder, I gues-timate at least 1% are registered voters. That's 500,000 people all of whom would vote for you if you get the daylight savings time thingy to kick in this weekend.

While we're asking, if you could delete the 1-2pm hour after lunch period of the day when we all feel sluggish, this would ensure that those of us who finish work at 5pm under the present time would really be finishing at 3pm when the sun is still shining (once you approve the prior request, of course).

And one more thing: can you pass a bill that all people with bipoolar disorder are exempt from work on non-sunshiny days?

Senator Obama, forget the female and black vote, there are more of us.

Sincerely,
The Butterfly
