A Question

How do you help someone without losing yourself?

Thankful, that I am able to ask this question.

Not everyone has the ability to help everyone. It's a difficult quality to possess. You need to be able to seperate yourself from emotion...ALL EMOTION...and handle the situation accordingly. Literally...be another you. Also, just becasue you helped someone today, doesn't mean they'll be able to use that information today...they may not be able to use it until months, sometimes years down the line. You also have to keep in mind that you may be able to help someone, but you can't help everyone. Always understand that each person handles situations differently. Your job is to help them through the situation, not to solve the problem.

That line makes all the difference. I always want to swoop in like Wonder Woman and fix the problem (men are like this, too). What I really need to do is get them through the moment. Good stuff

One can learn how to help someone without losing one's self, just as one can learn to let go of that person if they don't want to be helped...

So true, Amanda. So true. I guess I am enjoying this seemingly bip-free me, and is fearful of losing it. Thanks
